It's been ages since I've posted a DIY project on here. The truth is I've sort of gotten away from DIYs as my interests have drifted to other things (no pun intended), but this one is so easy and pretty, I had to share it.
I've also created a new category here on Bohemian Kate called Beach Living. I began to notice how often I've been posting about living by the beach (especially in social) and how much it's a huge part of my life. Especially now since I'm merely a walk away from the sand. Damn, as I write this I know I'm so blessed to live here...I just want to share a little piece of the beach with all of you.
So, back to this super easy DIY and how to bring part of the beach to wherever you live. I love the look of driftwood, painted or not, and it definitely has a presence in my new home. There's something about white washed driftwood that I love. I don't know what it is. Maybe it reminds me of growing up on the coast of Ventura...it just makes me feel at home and happy.
Ironically, I got this driftwood from June Lake and not at the beach. So, for all of you that don't live near the sea, but have a lake nearby...go check it out. You might find some there.
All you need is white acrylic paint. That's it. I gave each piece of driftwood about three coats of paint and it still has that white washed look. Obviously, you can give it just one or two to let the color of the wood shine through more.
I have mine on my coffee table, but these would be great for a table setting or even as wedding decor.
I just picked up some drift wood to do the same thing!! I want to use it in the photography of my shop jewelry photos. Thanks Kate!
